My Big Preschooler

Nathanael started preschool this week! He is going to the church preschool where Noah went on Tue. Wed. and Thur. 9-12. He has been looking forward to this for weeks. He wanted to start school when Noah did and did not understand why "his school" didn't start until September. We were not planning on sending him this year (we didn't send Noah until he was 4), however he really wanted to go. I think because he wants to do what Noah does. And, Nathanael is very social and we both thought it would be good for him to be around some more kids (since Noah was at school all day).

Tuesday was orientation. He went to his classroom while I went to a parent meeting and then I picked him up after the meeting (he was only in his classroom for about 40 min or so). He was really excited! He really didn't seem too nervous at all. Especially when he saw familiar faces of the teachers. I was a little worried because I could hear a little boy crying (pretty hard) behind the classroom door. I thought it might upset Nathanael so I warned him, "There's a little boy crying, but he's going to be okay". "Why is he crying, Mom?" "Umm..probably because he misses his Mom, but he'll be okay. You're going to be okay, right?" "Right, Mom".  And, he was. He walked on in and was fine. I think he was excited to see all of the new toys. Such a big boy.

Wednesday he went from 9-12. When the teacher went to get him out of the car, Nathanael just grinned when he saw her. She said, "That's what we like to see!". I wasn't too worried/sad about leaving him. I guess it's a little easier with your second child. Also, he was just so happy about going, which made me happy. And I knew that 3 hours would go by fast and I'd be back soon to pick him up. When I went to pick him up, he was just smiling as he was walking towards the van. He hugged me when he saw me and had to kiss his brother when he got in :). I asked his teacher how he did and she said that he did great, but was quiet. Sweet boy. When I asked him if he liked preschool, he said he did. When I asked him later who he played with at preschool,  he said, "a girl". Not surprised.

Thursday went great too. I'm so proud of him. He loves it! I think he really enjoys the change of paste, the new toys and friends. And, he loves that he gets to go to "school" like Noah. I think he's going to have a great year. My Nathanael is growing up (too fast!!).
