I love all my boys equally. They are all three very different and special in their own way. And, I love that! They are all very sweet. But, sometimes I think that Nathanael may have gotten an extra dose of sweetness. It's just in his nature. If I could pick just one word/phrase to describe my Nathanael it would be just that- "sweet natured".
He's my child who is very in tuned to other people's feelings. He is genuinely concerned if someone is hurt or sad. For instance, whenever one of his brothers is upset, he has to let me know. "Mom, Nicholas! He's crying!" or..."Mom, Noah's sad." It bothers him. And he wants me to fix the situation...immediately. Also, if I get hurt (stub my toe, whatever) and he knows it he'll say "Mom, are you okay??" "I will kiss it." That's just him. It's just in his nature.
He's been saying the sweetest/cutest things lately. Up until recently I was keeping my cousin's baby (Charlotte) who is 16 months old a couple of days a week. Nathanael loves Charlotte, and she loves him. She called him "Na-Na" (Nate-Nate). Well, one day when we were keeping her, Nathanael said, "Mom, is Charlotte my baby?" I said, "No, Charlotte isn't your baby." But, then he said, "But, she's my best girl!"
So sweet.
A couple of days ago, Noah found a praying mantis on the front porch. When I showed it to Nathanael, he said, "It's beautiful!!" I love that he saw beauty in one of God's creations...even if it was a bug. Because, sometimes bugs really are beautiful.. and sometimes it takes a 3 year old to remind you of that.
Last night, I was reading to him a story in one of his books titled "Baby Says". It's a cute little story about a baby brother and his big brother. Even though the baby brother is aggravating the big brother, you can see how much the big brother loves the baby. At the end of the story I said "It's just like how you love your baby brother Nicholas". And he said, "Yes. And, I love you, Mom". He just says these things. On his own. Out of nowhere. I love this child.
Some pics of Nate-Nate showing love to his brothers...
